Empowering Ksenia and Veronika’s Family

Ksenia (39 years old) and her family contacted Our Home Ukraine for help. Together with her husband, they live in the village of Ukrainka, Obukhiv district, where they raise their two children: a son, Vladislav (16 years old), and a daughter, Veronika (14 years old). They also have a third child on the way.

When the invasion began, Ksenia was on vacation, so her family decided to cross the border into Poland, thinking it was a temporary safety measure. Eventually, the children started attending school there, but Veronika asked to return home after a year. A few months after returning to Ukraine, Veronika received severe injuries to her left leg from rocket fragments. She underwent five surgeries, but two of her toes were amputated, and the rest are still non-functional. Veronika is trying to walk but must undergo several more surgeries to regain movement.

The government allocated UAH 50,000 for Veronika’s rehabilitation and restoration of her family’s home. Our Home Ukraine also provided the family with financial support and gifted Veronika a laptop to continue her studies and creative development.

Now, Veronika is at home and will undergo several examinations next month. Representatives of Our Home Ukraine continue to help Veronika and her family as much as possible.
